Marsha McMahan Zelus graduated from USC with a Bachelor’s in History and received a teaching credential from UC Berkeley. She put her teaching skills to good use in Australia, where she lived for 17 years. She has been active with both the Red Cross in Australia and in Carmel, where she currently serves on the Board of Directors as Disaster Services Chairman.

She is a trustee of the Big Sur Land Trust and has served as Secretary and Vice Chair of that Board. She was the president of The York School Parents Club and was a Trustee and Treasurer for Chartwell School for eight years. In addition, she was a member of the Carmel-By-The-Sea Beach Master Plan Task Force and is on the Regional Advisory Council California/Nevada for The Wilderness Society. She has two sons, Louis and Charles, and lives in Carmel.
